Who runs Paperpak?

CEO Geoff Butterworth has spent more than 30 years in the International Forest Products industry, most recently as an independent management consultant. He has a broad industry background and has held senior positions in wood pulp, fine paper, packaging and tissues businesses. He has managed Paperpak since its start up in 1998.

In 2002, Geoff was appointed to sit on the Advisory Committee on Packaging, a 12 strong body of industry representatives, which advises the Government on all aspects of the Packaging Waste Regulations.

Chairman Pat O'Brien graduated from UMIST in 1984 with a degree in Paper Science and joined Shotton Paper Company, a major newsprint mill in North Wales owned by the Finnish UPM Kymmene Corporation. In 1999 he switched from a sales role into the purchasing side of the UPM Kymmene organisation. Today he is joint Managing Director of PPML, which buys and manages paper on behalf of the Telegraph Group and the Guardian Media Group. Pat chairs the Newsprint Industry Materials Committee of the Newspaper Publishers Association.
